Orange Belt Cafe in St Petersburg at Bob Lee's Tires

Orange Belt Cafe in St Pete – Bob Lees Tires (lobby)

Published on 07/29/21: Unfortunately, Orange Belt is now permanently closed. We have several neighbors who are foodies, so when they ‘love’ something, I pay attention. One family was born and raised in Louisiana and recently told me “you need to visit Orange Belt Cafe in the lobby of Bob Lee’s Tires. They make the most authentic muffuletta [description below] that we’ve found outside of New Orleans”. (I’m offering TWO FREE LUNCHES FOR TWO, read below)

Turns out, Chef Thomas Musarra served as executive chef at several restaurants, including Mano’s Italian Grill (184 Google Reviews w/4.6 avg, before Covid closed it) and now he’s created his own, Orange Belt Cafe!

By all accounts, our neighbors hit the nail on the head w/ this hidden gem. The ‘St Petersburg Foodies’ publication certainly agrees, as here’s their recent raving review: https://bit.ly/3y6zXvA

St Petersburg Foodies Article on Orange Belt Cafe

“A real Cuban sandwich has salami, and Tommy’s is even more authentic because it includes Salchicon salami from Italy.” [he explains the Italian influence on the Cuban sandwich in the 1800’s] “The Orange Belt Cafe Cuban has slow roasted (in-house) mojo pork, Cuban ham, Salchicon salami, house pickle, Swiss cheese, and spicy mustard, and it is pressed. It was excellent.” He goes onto say “I ordered the “Super Italian” sandwich…and it was definitely Jersey-Boy approved, and huge. It includes soppressata, Genoa salami, prosciutto, capicola, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and house made Italian dressing.”

Colt had their freshly made pastries, while I ordered the biggest & best bacon, egg & cheese wrap, plus a muffuletta to-go for lunch. We didn’t have muffulettas on the avocado farm, but this sandwich is right up my alley! Spicy capicola ham, mortadella, genoa salami, mozzarella, provolone & olive salad.

Help show these two local entrepreneurs some love by sharing & visiting for breakfast or lunch! We’ll even select two followers Tues night (7/13), giving $30/each towards Orange Belt! Mike Braswell is a Tampa Bay Realtor, serving St Petersburg, Clearwater, all nearby beaches and more. Mike started LovingStPete in October of 2020 after a difficult year took its toll on local businesses. After being cooped up for portions of 2020 (lockdown) Mike and his son decided to get out and explore, helping spread the good word about the local area he loves so much. Often even doing gift card giveaways to support local. LovingStPete is now followed by over 48 thousand people on social media! The majority of posts are informative on fun parks, activities, day trips, great restaurants, and in general provide a comprehensive tour of the area!

Soon after receiving his bachelors in Management Information Systems, Mike developed and then operated a vacation rental advertising business for 10+ years as CEO/Owner. The business was eventually acquired by VRBO. Mike has earned the trust of many large clients over the years. Such as NFL, Wynn Resorts, Blue Cross Blue Shield, VISA, Genuine Parts Company (NAPA Auto Parts), AT&T, and other Fortune 500 companies.

When not spending time with his beautiful wife and energetic son, Mike enjoys boating and is also an avid tennis player. An interesting fact about Mike is that he grew up on an avocado farm with over 15 varieties, some of which you can find in our local Publix/Winn Dixie as his dad still farms the same farm at 87 years old!
