Munch’s Restaurant and Sundries in St Petersburg

Published on 05/11/21: Thanks to the recommendation from Guy Fieri and our followers, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Munch’s Restaurant and Sundries this weekend! Before I divulge the 411, you can find our Harvey’s 4th Street Grill winners by scrolling down. We GREATLY appreciate Harvey’s adding extra $ to each gift card I purchased, resulting in per winner! Thank you!

Onto another longtime local favorite, Munch’s!! Not only did many of you recommend Munch’s, Guy Fieri featured it on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, an episode which still airs. Our breakfast on Saturday was excellent, just as you described. And it was comforting to hear “hey, Mike and Colt” upon sitting down, from friends who are apparently regulars at this well reviewed breakfast and lunch spot! (1243 Google Reviews with 4.5/5 avg)

Munch’s menu is extensive, so you’ll have a difficult decision on how to work in their award winning fried chicken into your breakfast order. I opted for the Waffle Benedict: ½ waffle topped w/ fried chicken strips & 2 eggs smothered in homemade bacon gravy. If you follow my stories, this is when I requested cardiologist recommendations. 😊 Colt opted for blueberry pancakes and gave them a big thumbs up.

Munch’s also serves lunch, especially known for their legendary Munchburger & Fried Green Tomatoes! They’re also known for their tasty meats. In fact the episode of ‘Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives’ is entitled “Grillin & Smokin”.

Of Note:

Breakfast and lunch are served until 3pm, 7 days a week.

Munch’s is CASH ONLY, though you won’t need too much. ie the blueberry pancakes are $5.95 at the time of this posting. The French Toast $4.95. Munch’s opened in 1952 as a Sundries store and post office, selling sandwiches, hamburgers and hotdogs as their first food items.

#ProTip: MAKE SURE to visit nearby Lassing Park (waterfront), before or after breakfast.

The winners are: @jilphil on Instagram and Scott Munsell on Facebook! Congrats! We’ll be in touch…

Mike Braswell is a Tampa Bay Realtor, serving St Petersburg, Clearwater, all nearby beaches and more. Mike started LovingStPete in October of 2020 after a difficult year took its toll on local businesses. After being cooped up for portions of 2020 (lockdown) Mike and his son decided to get out and explore, helping spread the good word about the local area he loves so much. Often even doing gift card giveaways to support local. LovingStPete is now followed by over 48 thousand people on social media! The majority of posts are informative on fun parks, activities, day trips, great restaurants, and in general provide a comprehensive tour of the area!

Soon after receiving his bachelors in Management Information Systems, Mike developed and then operated a vacation rental advertising business for 10+ years as CEO/Owner. The business was eventually acquired by VRBO. Mike has earned the trust of many large clients over the years. Such as NFL, Wynn Resorts, Blue Cross Blue Shield, VISA, Genuine Parts Company (NAPA Auto Parts), AT&T, and other Fortune 500 companies.

When not spending time with his beautiful wife and energetic son, Mike enjoys boating and is also an avid tennis player. An interesting fact about Mike is that he grew up on an avocado farm with over 15 varieties, some of which you can find in our local Publix/Winn Dixie as his dad still farms the same farm at 87 years old!
