Kissin’ Cuzzins in St Petersburg for Breakfast

[fusion_dropcap boxed="yes" boxed_radius="0" class="fusion-content-tb-dropcap"]P[/fusion_dropcap]ublished on 04/28/21: Our local weekend breakfast places have been packed lately, often with a long wait. Much of it is our own fault, as we can be last minute decision makers, thus usually no reservations. Needless to say, I’m working to find great breakfast places further from downtown for when our spontaneity creates issues. Your favorites? We recently tried Kissin’ Cuzzins and here’s my two cents:

This past weekend when my wife said she wanted a “morning of cleaning”, I took hurricane Colt away for some southern comfort food at Kissin’ Cuzzins! I chose KC as a couple friends recently wrote positive reviews to go along with the many others. As a reviewer mentioned, you aren’t visiting KC to be trendy nor for ritz and glam, you visit for the food and family service. As of this posting, they’re open 7 days a week from 8am-2pm, serving all items on their menu during that entire time! So that’s means everything from pancakes to Chicken Parmesan to their shrimp & fish combo. They also have a full liquor bar if you’d like a cocktail with your meal.

Crowded, though sat quickly compared to the 30+ minute waits at the others…

This family-owned restaurant has been turning out pancakes & benedicts for 60 years! For this reason, a number of locals at this point have Kissin’ Cousins on their radar. This explains the full parking lot and line when we arrived. However, given their sheer number of tables, we were sat within 5 minutes and eating our breakfast within 15-20 minutes of parking. Colt’s pancakes w/ strawberry glaze was certainly right up his alley, though the Sugar Free pancake syrup lost a valiant but futile battle against the whipped cream and glaze.🤺

My French toast meal sure tasted like good home cookin’ to me. In hindsight I should have ALSO ordered the Hash Brown Casserole as I’ve seen a number of people mention it in reviews!

In short, we’ll certainly return to support this family-owned establishment! Owned by the same family since 1961. One of the servers we spoke to has worked at KC for 40 years, and of course at this point refers to most of her customers by name.

After being cooped up for portions of 2020 (lockdown) they decided to get out and explore, helping spread the good word about the local area he loves so much. Often even doing gift card giveaways to support local. LovingStPete is now followed by over 27 thousand people on social media! The majority of posts are informative on fun parks, activities, day trips, great restaurants, and in general provide a comprehensive tour of the area! His 6 year old son generally helps him gather the info, providing his wife some 'child-free' time in the process! A win-win, with his son being exposed to many great events and activities in the process.

Soon after receiving his bachelors in Management Information Systems, Mike developed and then operated a vacation rental advertising business for 10+ years as CEO/Owner. The business was eventually acquired by HomeAway/VRBO.

When not spending time with his beautiful wife and energetic son, Mike enjoys boating and is also an avid tennis player. An interesting fact about Mike is that he grew up on an avocado farm with over 15 varieties, some of which you can find in our local Publix/Winn Dixie as his dad still farms the same farm at 87 years old!
